  • There are many fiscal conservatives who are also socially liberal. They have had to take sides because of the entrenched two-party monopoly on our political system. If they all switched to the Libertarian Party, then the status quo would have a formidable challenger to recon with.

  • Obama doesn't support gay marriage; he "says" he supports gay marriage. It reminds me of the Monty Python skit where the guy wanted to assert his right to have babies. It is easy to support something in theory. Talk is cheap, but the proof is in the pudding.

  • Ron Paul stated that he would fund social programs for those who currently depend on them by cutting military spending and closing overseas military bases. We all see how popular that solution (the only rational one, by the way) played.

  • Alex - And that is why I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am both socially liberal and fiscally conservative. Lots of people who are socially and fiscally conservative line up with the Republicans because those are the lies they tell to get elected.
